Toddle

Toddle

What is Toddle?

Toddle classes are fun filled baby, toddler and pre-school dance classes in Cheltenham, suitable for children from 18 months old.  Classes were started in 2013 by dance professional Anna Ludford. There are three stages of Toddle classes so your child can progress as they grow older and every child has their first session free to see if they (and you!) like it. Each class is taught by a dance professional who has the benefit of performance and teaching experience. Please have a look below for information about each class.

When and where are the classes?

Class times:

Tuesday at 10:00am, The School House Cafe, (in the attached hall) St Pauls Road, Cheltenham, GL50 4EZ

Friday at 10.00am Holy Apostles Church Hall, London Road, Cheltenham, GL52 6HW

Toddle Stage OneToddle Stage One is a toddler dance class for children aged 18 months to around 30 months. Their parent or guardian, be it Mum, Dad, Granny or Grandpa, join in with all of the movement to provide tangible support and encouragement. Toddle classes have a lovely relaxed and welcoming atmosphere meaning children and grown-ups alike both have fun.

We understand that life with a toddler means that getting to a class every week is not always possible, so you are not required to sign up to a whole term of classes. This does mean however that class numbers vary from week to week and can be super busy.

Do I need to book or register?

You don’t have to book into a Toddle Stage One class, but it’s always handy to know if you’re intending to come for the first time, so please do drop Anna an email, text or give her a call and have a chat. We ask all our Toddle parents to fill in a registration form on-line, just so we have some basic details and to show you’ve understood the terms and conditions. What does my child need to wear

Your child can wear anything you fancy, so long as they are dressed and comfortable.

What do I wear for Toddle?

You can wear anything you like however it is worth noting that each session will include some exercises sat on the floor so it is advisable that you wear something comfortable and that you are able to freely move in.

When and where are the classes?

Class times:

Tuesday at 10:50am The School House Cafe, (the hall attached) St Pauls Road, Cheltenham, GL50 4EZ. Please book into this class before attending.

Toddle Stage Two – Book into a class

Toddle Stage TwoWhat is Toddle Stage Two?

Toddle Stage Two bridges the gap perfectly between the relaxed and informal atmosphere of a Toddle class and the more disciplined environment you find in traditional dance class. It provides the opportunity for you to enjoy watching your child as they are introduced to specific movements and will ensure your toddler has been able to experience a natural progression from the fun and parent led discipline of a Toddle class, to the teacher led structure and discipline of a traditional ballet class.

How is it different from any other Toddle class?

The parent is still present in the room, but now they sit and observe from the side lines, whilst the teacher leads through a more structured class that is very much a preparation for a ballet class where the door is closed and parents are asked to wait outside.

What about the details?

Stage Two classes are 30 minutes long. You can still pay as you go, and classes will still have the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere of any other Toddle class.

What does my child need to wear?

There is an optional uniform for Stage Two which you can purchase from the ALD My Dance Store. If you decide not to purchase the uniform, it is really useful if your little girl wears a skirt or dress as we introduce the concept of holding onto your skirt. Lots of little dancers use this class as an opportunity to wear their twirling skirts and princess dresses! You may also want to consider buying their first pair of ballet shoes which you can also buy from My Dance Store . Please do also bring along a teddy or dolly.

Do I need to book and register?

Yes. Please follow the link to book into a class and fill in the form. Our lovely administrator Sarah will then be in touch to discuss a start date.

Please note: As these classes are very popular, if your child does not attend a class two weeks in a row without notice, we will need to assume you no longer wish to come along and will give your place to someone else. So please do tell us in class if you are likely to miss more than one week, or let us know by dropping a quick email, text or voicemail so that we can keep you place open for you!

We ask all our parents to register so that we have some basic details and know that you have understood our terms and conditions.

Toddle Stage Three – Book into a class

Toddle Stage ThreeWhat is Toddle Stage Three?

Stage Three is a ballet class that provides the foundations for a syllabus led class. It builds on the skills already learnt in Toddle and Toddle Stage 2 such as listening to the teacher, and following instructions, alongside the physical elements of dance already taught. Suitable for those in their final year before formal education begins, Stage Three classes are still lots of fun with varied music and exercises.

How is Stage Three different from Stage Two?

For Stage Three, the parents no longer sit in and watch their child. Parents can take the opportunity to relax outside the room, whilst their child develops independence and confidence in dancing away from their parent. The class is slightly more structured than Stage Two and more emphasis will be placed on building the physical and musical aspects of dance correctly.

What about the details?

Stage Three classes are 30 minutes long.

Do I need to book and register?

Yes. Please follow the link to book into a class and Sarah, our lovely administrator will be in touch to discuss a start date.

Please note: These classes are very popular.  If your child does not attend a class two weeks in a row without notice, we will need to assume you no longer wish to come along and will give your place to someone else. So please do tell us in class if you are likely to miss more than one week, or let us know by dropping a quick email, text or voicemail so that we can keep you place open for you!

We ask all our parents to register too, so that we have some basic details and know that you have understood our terms and conditions.

What does my child need to wear?

There is an optional uniform for Stage Three which you can buy from the ALD My Dance Store. If you choose not to buy the uniform, and you have a littel girl, it is really useful to send them in a skirt or dress so she can practice holding on to the edges. It’s also great to have a pair of ballet shoes. Please do also pop a teddy or dolly in with your ballet kit for use during class.

Where and when are Stage Three classes?

Tuesday at 11.30am – The School House Cafe (in the hall attached), St Pauls Road, Cheltenham, GL50 4EZ. Please book into this class before attending.

Thursday at 3.15pm – Holy Apostles Church Hall, London Road, GL52 6HW. Please book into this class before attending.

Friday at 11.25am – Holy Apostles Church Hall, London Road, GL52 6HW. Please book into this class before attending.

What if I have any other questions?

Please feel free to give Anna a call or send Sarah an email via the contact form if you have any other queries or worries.
